# Creating a Survey and Import to Collect without GPS Coordinates

Hey!

 I would like to know if is it mandatory that my data has GPS coordinates in order to create a survey.

Hi, actually nothing is mandatory when you define a survey in Collect. You can decide whatever is mandatory or not simply specifying that an attribute is required or not.

I think I left the defo fields and that is why it is asking for it. I am still figuring it out. I will try to do as you say and get back to you.
