# Where is the Collect database file located?

Asked by collector on 2023-07-18

I am using Collect (latest version 4.0.86 ) and I would like to make a change on the IDML of a survey directly in the Database ( I am getting an error that there is some corruption on the IDML for a code attribute that is not connected to a code-list).

According to the documentation ( https://www.openforis.org/fileadmin/docs/collect/OF_Collect_MANUAL_20210209.pdf ) I can find this at this folder : c:\opt\openforis\collect\tomcat\data ( page 8 )
But there is no such folder.... I cannot find the db file inside my users AppData or ProgramData folders.

Dear user,
If you are running **Windows**, the Collect SQLite Database file is located in:
`c:\Users\YOUR_USER\OpenForis\Collect\data\collect.db`

Otherwise if you run **Linux** it's located in:
`/home/YOUR_USER/OpenForis/Collect/data/collect.db`

Many thanks,
