# How can we import data for a plot that would be visible to field workers?

Asked by jakakrizaj on 2023-07-19

Hello, I am wondering if it is possible to import data into a survey that would be then visible to field workers.

For example, if we already have data for trees on the plot from 10 years ago it would be useful to include some of it in the survey already (like a default value) so the workers recognize individual trees and only update the relevant information (like dbh, while it would be a waste of time to manually update all the tree species that would obviously stay the same as the last survey).

Thank you in advance and best regards

Dear user,
The only way to this data now in Collect is to add it as "extra" properties in the items of the sampling point data; this information could be retrieved and used in some calculated attributes or in the validation rules using the function `idm:samplingPointData('property_name', key_attribute_1, key_attribute_2, ...)`.
Many thanks,
