Hello, I have Collect Earth v.1.8.4. I have been using it for about a week with one survey. This week I switched to using a different survey and all of a sudden it stopped working. It was working great before that. Google Earth Code Editor, Explorer and Bing maps open for a second when I click on my sample plot and then immediately shut down. I have Collect Earth set up on two computers (both are macOS Mojave 10.14.5) and I tried the survey on both and it works fine on one and the other has issues - using the same survey and same everything. Do you have any sense for what could be wrong? asked 31 Jul '19, 23:03 radost |
Hi Again, We have updated Collect Earth ( to 1.8.6) with a new version of the ChromeDriver which support Chrome version 76. Open Collect Earth, and when the window asking if you want to update pops-up click on "Update now". To make sure that the ChromeDriver updates properly (it might be in use by Collect Earth), close Collect Earth before you start the updating process (the window, not the updater). If you get an error saying that one of the files in the installer cannot be replaced, make sure again that Collect Earth is properly closed (or restart the computer and start over the updating process again) answered 02 Aug '19, 12:48 Open Foris ♦♦ Thank you so much for helping me! Everything is working fine after I updated.

Thank you for reporting the issue. This seems to be related to the update of Google Chrome to version 80. We will release a new version that fixes the issue on Monday. In the meantime, please install Firefox in the computer and then change the default browser used by Collect Earth to Firefox ( this should work fine ) Go to the Properties Dialog anc choose Fiefox on the Browsers panel! Please let us know if this still fails. answered 08 Feb '20, 23:30 Open Foris ♦♦ |
Forgot to answer this. The update was published on Monday so if you didn't do it yet you can update Collect Earth to its latest version 1.10.10 Open Collect Earth, then go to Help->Check for updated of Collect Earht , then when the updater opens, make sure to close the Collect Earth window so that the chromedriver file is not in use and the updater can replace the chromedriver file. If you get a message saying that the chromedriver file cannot be replaced, then go to the System Task Manager ( Ctrl+Alt+Del ) and kill all of the processes called chromedriver, then retry the update. answered 12 Feb '20, 12:37 collectearth ♦ |
Hi Radost, This issue is most likely caused by the version of Chrome installed in the computer. Make sure that you have the latest version installed, you can check in the Chrome About menu. Otherwise try installing Firefox and switch the browser used by Collect Earth in the Advanced section of the Properties dialog. answered 31 Jul '19, 23:57 Open Foris ♦♦ |
Also worth to point out that Collect Earth works best in Windows as we have certain limitations in the way that the Chrome/Firefox windows are handled in the Mac version. Always remember too that to open a CEP file in Collect Earth Mac version you need to go to the Collect Earth main menu File->Import CEP file as the double clicking on a project file only opens Collect Earth without actually loading the file! (known bug since 5 years ago still unable to fix) answered 01 Aug '19, 11:16 Open Foris ♦♦ Thank you for the quick answer! I always import CEP file once I open Collect Earth. Chrome is up to date so that doesn't seem to be the issue. When I tried to switch to Firefox in the Advanced Section, the other browsers don't open at all. (I have the newest version of Firefox.) Any other ideas? Thank you!

Hi, my team and I are experiencing the exact same issue after we updated the Collect Earth software just yesterday to the newest version. I have checked the Chrome version as well and it's already the latest version. Can you please help? Thanks! answered 08 Feb '20, 22:14 adwiputra |
Hi, Thanks for being so responsive! I really look forward to the update on Monday instead of installing Firefox because currently, I don't have it on my computer. answered 08 Feb '20, 23:39 adwiputra |
