Hi,

Why is it that openforis choose Google Earth, instead of Open Street Map for instance? Open Street Map, after all, is ... open !

Hi Eleuthere,

Google earth allowed us to access a much richer archive of very hight resolution imagery. If you go anywhere in the world and activate the "history tool" ( the watch icon on Google Earth many) you can see that there are multiple images, in many cases even one image per year.

With Google Earth we also have the possiblity to interact through KML files ( with HTML embedded) that we never had with Open Street Map.

The new version of Collect Earth Online however does have sorry for Open Street Map as the approach to imagery differs from the original Collect Earth.
