Hi all,

In our tree data measurements, we select certain trees, such as the largest or nearest ones, for additional measurements like height or crown width. Currently, I've included a question for each tree asking if it is selected for these extra measurements. If the answer is yes, new input fields are displayed. However, this approach isn't very user-friendly.

Do you have any recommendations for designing this form to make it more intuitive?

Cheers, Hormoz

Dear Hormoz,
Your approach is correct. If you want to keep it simpler, you can make the selection of the trees for additional measurements "automatic", using a read-only attribute, defining for example an expression that uses the DBH of the tree, or its distance from the plot center.
Let us know if this approach can be applied to your survey.
Many thanks,

Dear Open Foris Team

Thank you so much for your response. Your approach works, but maybe not for my current survey, in which we don't measure and record the distance to a tree (just for boundary trees to check, the distance is measured). I'll use your recommendation for national inventories where the distance to the tree is recorded.

Cheers, Hormoz
