In our survey the enumerators ask farmers cropland areas using differnt local area units. In the survey designer I have defined the different units and their conversion factors and assigned them to the numeric (area) attributes. When i switch to the collect mobile App I can enter the numeric value but I cannot select the unit. There is also a warning saying "Unit not specified".

My work around would be to add a new attribute directly after area question where the surveyor has to select the local area unit which he is applying.

Collect Mobile unfortunately doesn’t support units yet. It’s on our list of features to implement for a later version. The workaround you mentioned is currently the only way to do this.
